Scott Pilgrim lives in Toronto, Canada. He is 23 years of age, plays bass in a rock band and is “between jobs”. He is dating Knives Chau, an innocent high school girl who has never kissed a boy. Everything is going well but a mysterious woman keeps roller-blading through his dreams. He does not know who this funky woman is but he is keen to find out who she is. He finally meets Ramona Flowers at a party and falls head over heels in love with her. He really wants to date her but to do so, he first has to dump his high school girlfriend and then defeat Ramona’s seven evil exes who conspire to prevent him from dating her. Can Scott do it? Can he beat the bad guys and finally live happily ever after with his cool roller-blading girlfriend?

Not only is this gorgeous graphic novel lots of fun to read, it is also ideal as a learning aid for second- and third-level students who want to enrich their Irish vocabulary.
